Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 24, 2026
1. Who operates TransitSatellite
TransitSatellite is operated by Jonathan Hale. This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you visit transitsatellite.com, use the satellite tracker, create an account, purchase TransitSatellite Pro, or interact with other TransitSatellite features.
2. Information we collect
Account information. When you create an account, we may collect your name, email address, authentication information and account identifiers.
Subscription information. If you purchase Pro, we receive subscription status, plan, billing-cycle and Stripe customer or subscription identifiers. Payment-card details are collected and processed by Stripe and are not stored directly by TransitSatellite.
Location information. If you choose to grant browser location permission, the tracker uses your approximate or precise device location to calculate horizon visibility and satellite passes. In the current tracker, this location is processed in your browser for the active session and is not saved to your TransitSatellite account. You can deny or revoke permission in your browser or device settings.
Usage and device data. We may collect pages visited, approximate region, referring page, browser type, device type, operating system, interaction events, timestamps, diagnostics and similar information through Google Analytics, Vercel Analytics, server logs and related technologies.
Communications. If you contact us, we may retain your message, email address and other information you provide so we can respond and maintain appropriate records.

4. Cookies and similar technologies
TransitSatellite and its service providers may use cookies, local storage and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember preferences, protect the service and understand site usage. You can control cookies through your browser, but disabling essential storage may prevent account or subscription features from working.
5. Service providers and sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We may share information with providers that help operate the service, including Supabase for authentication and database services, Stripe for payments and subscription management, Vercel for hosting and analytics, and Google for analytics. These providers process information under their own terms and privacy policies.
We may also disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect users or the public, investigate fraud or security incidents, enforce our agreements, or complete a merger, financing, acquisition or transfer of the service.
6. Amazon affiliate links
TransitSatellite contains links to products sold on Amazon. When you click an affiliate link, Amazon may collect information under its own privacy policy and may use cookies or similar technologies to attribute qualifying purchases. As an Amazon Associate, TransitSatellite earns from qualifying purchases.
7. Data retention
We retain account and subscription records for as long as needed to provide the service, comply with legal and accounting obligations, resolve disputes and enforce agreements. Analytics and technical logs may be retained according to the settings and policies of the applicable provider. Information may remain in backups for a limited period after deletion.
8. Your choices and requests
You may revoke location permission through your browser or device, manage billing through the Stripe customer portal and request access to, correction of or deletion of personal information by contacting us. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request, and some records may be retained when required by law or legitimate business obligations.
9. Security
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards designed to protect information. No internet service, transmission or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
10. Children's privacy
TransitSatellite is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so we can review and delete it where appropriate.
11. International users
TransitSatellite and its providers may process information in the United States and other countries. Data-protection laws in those locations may differ from the laws where you live.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as TransitSatellite changes. The revised policy will be posted here with a new “Last updated” date. If a change is material, we may provide additional notice where appropriate.
